• The Quit CSM Settings control panel has been introduced.
The control panel lets the user configure Quit CSM and has 3 panes: the Applications pane lists the excluded applications and lets the user exclude and include applications and set the Hide front application before switch option; the Menus pane allows the user to show application icons and sizes in the Quit and advanced Quit menus and add commands to the Quit menu; the Preferences pane lets the user set display options (icon, memory bar) and enable a show & hide Control Strip hot spot.
• The possibility to display the Hide Front Application before Switch option in the Quit menu has been re-introduced: the option can be added to the Quit menu by checking the corresponding option in the control panel's Menus pane.
• The Sleep command has been introduced: it can be added to the Quit menu by checking the Sleep, Restart and Shut Down commands option in the control panel's Menus pane.
• The Quit Others & BOAs command has been added to the advanced Quit menu: it lets the user quit all running applications, including background-only applications and the Finder, except the active application.
• Applications can be now excluded and included from both the Quit menu (Exclude & Include command) and the control panel's Applications pane. The control panel lets the user exclude and include applications whether they are running or not and displays the excluded applications' list (preferences concerning applications excluded with Quit CSM 2.0 or lower are lost).
• A bug concerning the Hide Front Application before Switch option, whose state wasn't correctly restored at startup, has been fixed.
• System requirements have become more stringent: minimum required system software version is now 7.5 with Appearance Extension. Minimum required Extensions Strip version is now 2.0bx.
Version 2.0 - April 2000
• Menus have been completely revised.
- Commands in the Quit and advanced Quit menu have been rearranged: some commands have been removed (Show Memory Bar, Show Application Size, Hide Front Application before Switch), other commands have been rearranged or renamed and the About command has been added.
- The Memory menu has been introduced so that the user can quickly edit memory related preferences.
- New modifier keys have been associated to menus: command+click pops up the advanced Quit menu, control+click pops up the Memory meny and shift+click pops up the Color menu.
• The About dialog box has been introduced: it provides general information about Quit CSM (version number, shareware fees, ... ) and contact information (URLs are clickable if Internet Config is available). A Register Online button is also available.
• Quit CSM's interface has been revised. Changes have been introduced both in the control strip icon and in dialog boxes.
• With Mac OS 9 or higher and Multiple Users on, different users now have different Quit CSM preferences. Any user can register Quit CSM and registration is shared by all users.
• A bug causing particular memory amounts (1.0 MB, 2.0 MB, 3.0 MB, ... ) to be incorrectly rounded has been fixed.
• Some minor bugs have been fixed.
Version 1.7.7 - December 1999
• The incompatibilities with the Multiple Users feature of Mac OS 9 have been fixed: the show & hide strip hot spot is disabled during login and the "Quit Finder" command in the advanced Quit menu is disabled if the current user is not the owner of the computer.
In addition to that limited or panels users cannot anymore access the advanced Quit menu.
• 10 new memory bar colors have been added.
Version 1.7.6 - September 1999
• A bug that could cause the computer to crash when the user tried to popup the Quit menu or the advanced Quit menu has been fixed. The bug was due to the inability of Quit CSM 1.7.5 to display long application names in its menus.
• A bug causing the Show & Hide Strip hot spot to behave as if it were disabled after a screen resolution change has been fixed.
• An incompatibility with Extensions Strip which lead to registration problems under particular circumstances has been solved.
Version 1.7.5 - July 1999
• The "Quit All BOAs" command has been added to the advanced Quit menu. It enables the user to quit all running background-only applications.
• Quit CSM displays application icons in the Quit and advanced Quit menus (requires Mac OS 8.0 or higher or System 7.5 or higher with Appearance Init). Icons can be hidden by unchecking the "Application icon" option in the "Quit CSM Options" dialog box.
• The "Use large hot spot" option has been introduced. Default hot spot size is 3x3 pixels, while the large hot spot is 10x10 pixels. This option is useful when a screen wrap extension or a high screen resolution are used.
• The "Hide Front Application before Switch" option is now saved across restarts.
• The Memory Bar Color menu has been introduced. It is displayed by command-clicking Quit CSM in the Control Strip when the memory bar is visible and enables the user to switch to a different memory bar color.
• The "Quit CSM Options" dialog box has been completely re-designed.

• Quit CSM runs PowerPC code with Control Strip 2.0.
• The "Hide Others" and "Show All" commands and "Restart" and "Shut Down" commands can be added to the Quit menu.
• The "Hide Front Application before Switch" option has been introduced: when checked, the front application is automatically hidden before each context switch. This option is available only on computers running Mac OS 8.0 or higher.
• The memory bar can now display either the largest unused memory block or the memory in use.

• The "More..." command has been introduced. It opens the "Quit CSM Options" dialog box, which makes Quit CSM more versatile and easier to use.
The "Quit CSM Options" dialog box lets you change the memory bar color and make it display either the largest unused block or the memory in use. It lets you configure the Quit menu by adding or removing the "Include & exclude", "Hide Others", "Show All", "Shut Down" and "Restart" commands. It finally enables you to include all excluded applications and define the show & hide strip hot spot.
• The incompatibility of Quit CSM with RealPC has been fixed.
Version 1.6 - September 1998
• Quit CSM is now FAT. On a PowerMac, when Extensions Strip is used as module host, Quit CSM runs PowerPC native.
• Quit CSM is compatible with MacOS 8.5 and Control Strip 2.0.
• The evaluation of the largest unused block has been improved: Quit CSM now considers both memory allocated by processes at startup and temporary memory.
• A new registration reminder has been introduced. This fixes a possible incompatibility of Quit CSM with module hosts differing from Apple Control Strip.

• Background-only applications (BOAs) have been added to the advanced Quit menu (shift-click on Quit's control strip icon), thus giving the user the opportunity to quit them.
• An internal bug preventing the "Exclude" and "Include" commands from working properly has been fixed. This bug came up in case of the installation of versions 1.4.x over a previous version, but had no effect in case of a clean installation. With the installation of v1.5 preferences concerning possible excluded applications are lost.

• The "Exclude" command has been added. It enables the user to specify applications which have not to be quitted by Quit CSM. This feature is particularly useful in case of applications which are launched at startup and which should be always running. The user can safely take advantage of the "Quit Others" and "Quit All" commands without quitting the excluded applications.
An excluded application can be readmitted in the Quit menu by activating it and by choosing the "Include" command.
• The advanced Quit menu (shift-click on Quit's control strip icon) has been introduced. It lists all running applications and enables the user to quit excluded applications.
• The "Quit Finder" and "Restart Finder" commands have been added. They are displayed in the advanced Quit menu (shift-click on Quit's control strip icon) and give the user the possibility of quitting and then restarting the Finder.

• The "Show Icon" option has been added: it gives the user the possibility of hiding Quit's icon, thus reducing the width of Quit's display. If the "Show Largest Unused Block" is unchecked, the "Show Icon" option is disabled and Quit's icon is always shown.
• An internal bug causing crashes when Extensions Strip or Desktop Strip are used as module host has been fixed.

• A bug concerning the memory bar color has been fixed. This bug produced the incompatibility of Quit CSM with Desktop Strip and caused crashes with Quit CSM running under Extensions Strip.

• Quit CSM is Extensions Strip-savvy. The module is Xed off in the strip if loaded with Extensions Strip v1.5.1 or lower. Under Extensions Strip v1.5.2 or higher the Extensions Strip application is filtered out, so that the "Quit Others" and "Quit All" commands can be safely performed.
• Under Extensions Strip, Quit CSM can quit applications which do not support Apple Events (i.e. developed before the introduction of System 7.0), to.
The limitation persists when Quit CSM is running under Apple Control Strip.
• A bug causing the memory bar to be incorrectly drawn on computers with video cards not supporting pixel depth 1 (i.e. b&w) has been fixed. The memory bar was drawn in plain black independently of the current monitor setting.

• Quit CSM quits all (non-background-only) processes: modern cdevs and desk accessories are added to the Quit menu.
• Applications developed before the introduction of System 7.0 are not included in the Quit Menu, because they do not support Apple Events and cannot be quitted from Quit CSM. For the same reason Quit CSM is not able to quit other applications, when an application preceding System 7.0 is active: the Quit commands are disabled in this case.
